These illustrations for notebooks were an academic project I made during my international exchange program at Swinburne University in Melbourne.
Me being a proud Colombian exchange student I felt the need to share my culture with my classmates during this project. To do this I created a series of illustrations that show how the stunning urban landscapes of my country look and feel like.
These illustrations include important elements that characterize some Colombian cities, such as transportation systems and famous heritage and modern buildings. In order to try to illustrate what the cities feels like, each illustration was guided by a feeling or mood while creating it.

Medellín
In this illustration I wanted to convey the feeling of community typical of the city of Medellin. To do so, I illustrated one of the most iconic transportation systems of this city, the escalators that connect the different levels of the slum or “comuna” of San Javier, accompanied by an abstract background of the colourful houses placed over the hills. Finally I depicted some typical characters you can find there.
Cartagena
In this illustration I wanted to show how the city of Cartagena is all about history and tradition. To do so, I illustrated a typical historic building of this city, the church of Santa Catalina de Alexandria's tower, accompanied by an abstract background of the colourful heritage houses placed in the streets. Finally I depicted some typical characters you can find in Cartagena such as “La palenquera”.
Bogotá
In this illustration I wanted to convey the concept of Bogotá being a business metropolis. To do so, I illustrated a modern skyscrapper typical of Bogota, the ”BD Bacatá” skyscrapper, accompanied by an abstract background of the tall and modern buildings you can find in capital district of Colombia. Finally, I illustrated some typical characters you can find in Bogotá such as busy business people.
